Rated A Perfect 10 out of 10!
by Dr. Kintish
Drawing on more than 12 years of clinical experience, Anthony Carey has produced a video program that is essential in the early stages of rehabilitation. His approach is designed to teach patients and clients individual exercises in specific planes of movement, and then progress them into more functional patterns.
He looks to achieve four specific processes during theses exercises:
- Activate latent muscles.
- Demonstrate cognitive neuromuscular control.
- Optimize joint positions.
- Integrate peripheral functional control of muscle programming.
These exercises are not new to most practitioners interested in rehab; however, they are presented here in a more organized format. Anthony reviews each exercise with a physical therapist. After each demonstration, a quick review is presented in text format, including the muscle involved, specific modifications that can be applied, and contraindications.
The DVD begins with a discussion of the author's philosophy and approach, and then presents exercises grouped into three categories of movement, following specific anatomical planes: the sagittal dominant plane, frontal dominant plane and transverse dominate plane. The production just kind of ends at that point and you are given a choice to review the video again, or move back into a specific exercise directly from a dominant plane.
Overall, you will find this video exceptional for helping your patients reverse altered patterns of movement, enhance their posture, and increase functional and intersegmental range of motion while improving flexibility. More normal patterns of mobility will develop as abnormal compensatory movements are eliminated and muscles become retrained - first specifically, and then as groups.
