Professional Internship with Anthony Carey

Three Days Structured Around You And Your Opportunity To Learn

This learning experience is for the health and fitness professional who realizes the importance of the assessment and intervention process.  You are what we like to refer to as a “thinking” professional.

For you, there are no cookie cutter exercise prescriptions. You design programs with function in mind.

Because of the complexity of the information, all applicants will be expected to have a solid foundation in anatomy and kinesiology and a working knowledge of biomechanics.

The Size Of The Group Is Limited For Better Learning

You will have ample time and opportunity to ask questions, experience the exercises and interact with your fellow interns.

Most people finish the internship feeling discouraged and overwhelmed.  How's that for a selling point?  But that is a beautiful thing.  Because their eyes have been opened to the depth of challenges the human body presents.  We know that ignorance is bliss.

Once they get back to their respective studios or clinics, they can begin to see the possibilities.  They begin using the information, practicing what they've learned and changing their paradigm forever.  That's when the fun really begins.

  4. You will be able to sequence those corrective exercises to best impact the needed functional changes.

  5. You will be able to consider the influence of physical limitations and/or pain in the development of your corrective exercise program.

  • Small group instruction and interaction on concepts, theories, principles, and techniques utilized by Function First and our approach to musculoskeletal dysfunction.  This will involve both lecture to reinforce overall philosophy and  lots of "hands on" applications.
  • Progressions from  initial motor learning corrective exercises to more truly functional, multi-planar, multi-joint exercises.
  • Your own personal assessment and corrective exercise program provided by one of the Function First staff.  You will also be given your own therapy pillow and strap to assist you with your program and to use with your clients.
  • Group assessment and program design for each attendee for learning purposes.
  • A written and practical examination at the end of the third day.  The practical examination will consist of all participants assessing one individual and then each preparing an exercise program for that individual. The written examination will consist of a series of questions requiring short answers on the theory and application of what you learned over the course of the three days.
  • An understanding of the business operations and procedures of Function First.  See how we integrate our philosophy uniquely with both the medical and fitness communities.
